Load It Up In The Spotlight!!!

Cody3I recently had the privilege to ask musician Cody Labombard a few questions about his upbeat, bittersweet, roaring new single ‘In the Spotlight’, and his upcoming album ‘Load It Up!!!’. Here’s how it went:

SWEPT: How long have you been playing music?

CODY: I’ve been playing music for quite a few years now. I used to sing to some golden oldies like “Sea Cruise” and “Runaway”, “Stand by Me”, that kind of thing. I was maybe five. I’ve been playing acoustic guitar for about 12 years now. Song writing seems to be my thing; I learned so I could write and express myself better with hopes of inspiring others. I play guitar, bass, piano, mandolin and a touch of banjo – love’n it.

SWEPT: Where do you take your inspirations from?

CODY: My father told me to play music and make it into something before he passed away a few years ago…I played that weekend…I’m a stronger man then I probably give myself credit for. It’s what I love; it’s what I’m good at.

SWEPT: What made you want to go solo?

CODY: Well my vision is pretty tight. I would want a full band but I feel that hiring a backing band is a lot less hassle. Cody

SWEPT: Tell us about what’s behind your single.

CODY: In the spotlight is a song that I wrote because the feeling of always being judged. No, matter what; in an instant. In my case it’s music. Nobody is perfect and nobody should be. We seem to be judged up against an unmatchable scale, it’s just unrealistic.
SWEPT: What can you tell us about the upcoming album?

CODY: Load it up!!! is a single, full type style LP with a wide range of music from alternative/folk , acoustic rock and even some country feel. There’s something on there for everyone. I’m hoping to inspire people to think a little differently.

SWEPT: What are your plans once you’ve released your album? Tour?

CODY: Push, push. I’m looking to do some festivals. Rock out at some of the bigger venues. Whatever helps me get my music pushed out there. I am trying get played on more stations across Canada and any radio stations that will have me. Just trying to branch out and do my thing . Will be looking to tour Canada and the States in 2016.

SWEPT: Is there anything you want your current and/or would be fans to know?

CODY: Load it up!!! There’s something on there for everybody. I’m hoping to inspire people to take a step to think a little differently.
